The Cathedral of Barcelona is called La Seu, the seat of the Bishop. Once the foundations had been laid in 1298, this beautiful cathedral took a further two hundred years to build, but the main façade was only completed late in the 19th century! The most arresting features are the cathedral’s two impressive octagonal bell towers, and the central cloister that provides a calm respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. Glorious Magnolias, Palm trees, aromatic Orange blossom and snow-white geese add a countryside domesticity to the atmosphere.
