Cardiff Sights, Sounds and Hotels

Caerphilly Castle, which is approximately 8 miles north of Cardiff, was constructed as a defence against invasions during the 13th century by Earl Gilbert de Clare, Lord of Glamorgan. This daunting moated fortress, which is constructed on a section of a Roman fort site, has enormous water defences which form the second largest castle area in the land. The imposing layout of the castle, with its great defences, huge gatehouse, fortified dam, which separates the outer and inner moats, and the Great Hall make for a fascinating visit. The Green Lady, the spirit of a French Princess who was in love with a Welsh Prince and who was sent to exile when her husband found out, is said to wander within the castle confines mourning her lost love.

Cardiff is a wonderful place to explore if you're into the medieval castle scene, or enjoy a bit of mystery, and, if so, then Cardiff's Caerphilly Castle is just perfect for you! The wonderful Cardiff hotels will provide a warm and cosy base for when you return from investigating all the fantasy sites and sounds.
