The Uffizi Gallery, one of the richest in the world, is Italy’s most important art collection. The building, damaged by a terrorist bomb in 1993 has been restored with an entrance lobby to accommodate the many visitors. This enormous collection of Renaissance and classical artworks were collected over some three centuries and was bequeathed to the citizens of Tuscany by the last grand duchess of the Medici family when she died in 1737. Works by famous artists such as da Vinci, Botticelli, Raphael, Giotti and many more are housed in the impressive palazzo built in 1560 for the Duke Cosimo de’Medici.
